We have put together a helpful guide on the correct way to keep your tiles in tip top condition through regular cleaning and maintenance.

Every Day Cleaning

Just as you clean your countertops, tables, showers and sinks; mosaic tiles need regularly cleaning every day. All you need to use is water and whatever detergent that you use for your regular cleaning – although sometimes there might be a specific one recommended to you.

You should only use a sponge or cloth to clean your tiles, as anything harder might scratch or damage them. Afterwards, wipe down with a cloth to avoid any water spots from appearing.

Mopping Your Floor Tiles

If you have mosaic floor tiles, you can mop them regularly to keep them in good shape. You should first sweep over your tiles and get rid of any excess dust or rubbish. Using a mild detergent and water, you should mop the whole length of your mosaic tiles. Leave this for 5-10 minutes for the cleaning agent to soak in before giving the floor a good scrub (again with something soft – you don’t want any scratches on your nice floor!).

Once you are satisfied that your floor is clean, you can give it a rinse – be careful to remove any excess liquid!

Use Baking Soda

It’s not unusual for every day household objects to double up as cleaning agents – and baking soda is no different. By adding some water to baking soda, it creates a thick paste. Using a rough cloth, you can then apply this paste to your mosaic tiles. If you do this every so often, it will help you tiles look fresher for longer!

Use Waterproof Sealant

Once your tiles have been installed and filled with grout, it would extremely beneficial to you to apply some waterproof sealant to your mosaic tiles. This is especially important for bathrooms – as waterproof sealant will protect your tiles from water that splashes from the bath, shower or sink. It will prevent the growing of mould, meaning that your tiles remain looking new at all times.
