Make Your Guests Green With Envy At Your Eco-Friendly Bathroom

It’s true, we all know that we could live a little greener. We are surrounded by messages telling us how we can recycle this or upcycle that and help reduce our carbon footprint and save the environment one step at a time.

You may have already started to live a greener lifestyle in other rooms and areas of your life, but did you know that you can help save the environment from the comfort of your own bathroom?

Here at Tile and Stone Online, we’ve put together a few ideas on how you can become your own eco warrior simply by making a few small changes to your bathroom habits!

Toilet Talk

In the UK, a lot of our toilets are single flush units which use around 30% of the water in the household and using 13 litres of water per flush, that’s a lot of water which is being wasted.

There are water-saving toilets available which halve the amount water that is used per flush and feature a reduced flush and a full flush feature. This means you don’t have to always do a full flush of the toilet each time it is used if it isn’t required.

Shower Shenanigans

It’s a given that a shower uses less water than a bath, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t have a bath every now and then. To save water wastage, make sure you only fill the tub with the amount of water that you will need. You could even reuse your bathwater to water your plants outdoors!

If you are taking a shower more regularly than a bath, you can still save more water by installing a water efficient showerhead which reduces the amount of water in the flow without disrupting your power ballad session in the shower!

Tap Tips

If you have a leaky tap that you haven’t got around to fixing yet, get to it!  Dripping taps waste a lot of water per year, no matter how slow the drip is! This is costing you money too through your water bills, so it’s better to tackle the issue as soon as you notice it to avoid high water bills.

It’s important to make sure your taps are turned completely off when you aren’t using them, even when brushing your teeth. Motion sensor taps are an excellent way to combat water waste when using a tap. If that’s not possible to install, try installing a tap aerator to reduce the flow of water from the tap!
