3 Step Guide to a Bathroom Redesign

Planning a bathroom redesign can be quite stressful, especially if you haven’t given the project much thought before committing to the idea of a new bathroom.

However, planning a complete redesign is advised, especially if there is a lot you would like to change. The more you plan, the easier it will be to work out what is feasible and what isn’t for your bathroom. It’s important that you have a good idea of what you’d like your new bathroom to look like before giving the go ahead.

As bathroom design experts, here’s our 3 step guide to a stress-free bathroom redesign!

List What You Like and Don’t Like

One of the first things to consider before redesigning your bathroom is what you like and don’t like about your current bathroom set up.

This will help you determine what you would like to change, and what you would like to keep the same, or at least similar within your new bathroom design. Maybe you like your bath being situated under the window or dislike that your sink is on the opposite side of the room to your toilet.

This can help you save money, especially if there are quite a few aspects of your bathroom that you would like to save and incorporate into the new design.

Think About Why You Are Redesigning

There are many reasons to redesign a bathroom, so it’s important to pinpoint the exact reason that you are deciding to change how your bathroom looks.

Functionality is one of the main reasons people want to update their bathroom. They simply feel that the set up that they have in place can no longer fulfill all the needs that they require of it and would prefer to include certain appliances and features that will allow them to do this.

Other people may simply want to update their bathroom for cosmetic reasons. Maybe they are thinking of selling their home and want to make the bathroom more attractive to prospective buyers, or they just simply want a more modern design.

It’s better to understand why you want to redesign your bathroom before you start so that you can understand the direction the project is heading. It’s no use realising you want more functionality when you are halfway through designing for cosmetic reasons.

Create a Realistic Budget

The most expensive part of your bathroom redesign will most likely be your fixtures, so it’s important to factor this in when you create your budget.

Shop around for prices before settling on your fixtures and decorating supplies, you never know where you’ll find a bargain! If you do manage to save yourself some money, you can afford to spend a little more on an area which you were budgeting less for… or just simply save the money for a future project instead.
